"Oh Deer", I'm hyperventilating!

'm taking a break from running around in childish excitement to write and share the news! I received in the mail some copies of the beautiful new album of Adrienne Pierce, "Oh Deer"! Oh to see it up close after more than a year of collaboration and hard work! I'm just too excited and took some photos which i will share below, in between my overexcited rumblings. :)

I have been listening to the album for months now, from early recordings to the final polished lovely sound that i am holding in my hands right now. Adrienne has found her way most naturally in my music library n playlists and i bet you will feel very cosy in her company too. Adrienne keeps getting better with each album at her enchanting craft. There is a quite technical review here if you happen to understand composing as much as i understand painting. ;)

So the essence of the album is pure honey but appearances matter also! And oh, am i pleased with all the superficial parts! The whole album looks like a little jewel and it is very eye catching in all its mellow moodiness. I think i managed to convey properly the escapistic and whimsical feelings, so prevalent in Adrienne's sweet sound. I know Adrienne is very happy with the result and i hope you all are too! On the technical side, i am really very happy with the vibrancy and accuracy of all the colours and the fidelity of all the little things, like letters and so on. I took careful care for colour accuracy and it paid off as the album came out almost identical to what i was seeing on screen and test prints. Kudos to the people at Discmakers for sticking to their tight specifications and doing an all around jolly good job of printing the album.

There is also an eight page booklet with all the lyrics that comes with the album, but is not in these photos. You can go to Ms Adrienne Pierce's new site and get the album directly from her and i recommend you do! You can listen to five whole songs from the album there too and the rest you will listen when you have the album in your hands. ;)

Broken Glass, Cinder n Thorns

hings may seem a bit slow here in my blog over the past few weeks but it's only because there have been a massive amount of things going on here at the backstage of Hide n Seek Theatre Troupe!

As in every proper fairytale, good forces have been fighting bad ones and bad forces almost prevailed! ...And i say *almost* with a great relief since it came so close that the evil witch or the deadly siren girl had their way of things this time! All sort of unexpected things, good and bad, collided together in a very short amount of time and the end result was me running around in panic as usual.

In a nutshell: a) Taking part in a great Gallery show but having the artwork that would participate arrive broken n torn b) Mourning over a dead pc, evoking all pagan powers to revive it n failing miserably, then getting a new one and forgetting the old c) the magical outcome of a long collaboration d) many lovely interviews e) working on gorgeous jewellery f) amazing new proposals g) crazy April sale in my shop and h)..unexpected hair dying results, among other shenanigans! ;)

And here is a bad thing! How it arrived across the pond at 323East gallery (yes, blame the evil spells of the gingerbread house witch or the unnerving songs of the siren girl or basically FEDEX! .\___/.

Luckily everything got sorted out with a wink of a magic wand and my art piece was up and ready for the show! Here is a peek:

So this was the artwork i created for the very awesome Glass, Cinder n Thorns Gallery show that commenced at 323East Gallery on March 20th.  The all female artists show curated by lovely April Segedy, Gallery curator of 323East gallery, had the closest to my heart themes: Dark fairytales.

As April says "The shadows of childhood linger long for every adult person, but the most ominous and haunting shadows are invariably those that darken (or ironically illuminate) a female artist's works....As children our parents would read to us bedtimes stories of little mermaids, sleeping beauties, and little red riding hoods. These innocent stories often had evil lurking beneath the pages. What Disney failed to tell you is that, the mermaid dies, multiple suitors defiled sleeping beauty and the wolf ate grandma."

The show is full of enchanting, menacing and dreamlike artworks from female artists from all over the world and it's an exhibition not to be missed!

It will be up until this Thursday,  April 15th so this is the last call for anyone who missed it and would like to visit! Apparently it has been a huge success , the whole Detroit has been raving about it and here is why.

What?!? Photos of the failed hair attempt you say?!?...hmmm....let me think...nope! heheh :) Ok, here is one.  Colour is fine but unintentional...
