ittle Lost Bear is inspired by this
tiny little fragmented fairytale of mine that has been kept mute in my head
for some time now.
“... Everyone of them, in the vast
lands that engulf the notoriously deep Bear Forest, know one thing
very, very well. You could say that this is one of the things that
they never forget as long n white years they may be blessed to
walk....one of those things, that they know better than any other,
like those kept well and very wise secrets passed to them from the
very first days within their cradle night stories...one of those
customs that they never fail to obey and repeat tirelessly,
mindlessly even if they don't know why or don't agree with.
Yes...There have been disbelievers...but they came to believe.
Yes...There have been wrongdoers too...but they came to regret.
And those that didn't, fled to lands
far far away, existent or not.
Cause you see, and read carefully this next bit cause it might prove of great importance if you ever drift towards the Bear Forest, ... this “thing” is a law! No forgive me...it's *the* law. The law of the forest... which dictates that no one, no human or forest creature alike is to walk within it's grass-covered grounds after the old clock of the northern clock house strikes twelve.
Legend has it that once the clock midnight signs, a gigantically and enormously big young bear loses it's way home every night ! And every night it strays into the Bear forest looking it's way back... and after wondering n wondering aimlessly around for a hint that will show the way home, the young bear takes rest into the woods in the usual spot, until the morning comes.
They say that the big red cord around his enormous hairy neck, used to be his leash but now cut n torn is the only thing that reminds the bear cub that once had a master, a friend, a soul mate, a home it has no longer.
In it's recurrent grief, little lost bear cares not much for anything and anyone who passes by and there have been some, only some, that tasted it's wrath when they dared to evoke it by pulling it's leash, trying to help it, wake it up or any of the above combined.
Once the morning sun lights up the valley of the Bear forest, the young bear is nowhere to be seen. Some say it found the way back ...but every night it forgets it once again. For sure the inhabitants of the forest use every minute until the dark falls again to wind again with precision the Northern Clock, scatter pines, honey n nuts on the ground and prepare the bed of trees for the little lost bear...but above all they all make sure, to shut their doors n windows and gather their small ones deep inside their homes once the clock strikes twelve...”
